UPDATE: COVID-19 AND ALCHEMY FILM AND MOVING IMAGE FESTIVAL 2020
17 March 2020
Live today, shine tomorrow…
In response to escalating uncertainties around the COVID-19 outbreak, which affect all elements of our preparation and our year-round programme, we have made the extremely painful decision to suspend all in-person events at this year’s Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival.
Given the global and systemic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, we are proceeding with a live streaming platform for much of our festival line-up, showing the many great films that came to us through our open call for submissions and honouring the hard work of our Programming Team in selecting them. The revised iteration will take place 1 – 3 May and the full line-up will be published on Thursday 26 March.
We regret that due to its site-specific nature, our installations programme is cancelled. Other elements, such as discussion events, dinners and receptions, and live performances, have been postponed. We look forward to an opportunity to integrate these into our wider year-round programme when time and circumstances permit.
We appreciate that this is a stressful and disruptive period for many within and across the arts, and extend warmest thanks to our staff, trustees, volunteers, partners, funders, audiences, the wider community of Hawick and the Scottish Borders, and the artists whose work is the reason Alchemy Film & Arts exists.
