Film Town, our community filmmaking project, was a 2020 Scottish Charity Awards finalist and up for two prizes: Demonstrating Digital and People’s Choice. We were as humbled to have been nominated as we were chuffed to have been beaten by Simon Community Scotland, who also took the Charity of the Year Award.
Held annually by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), the Scottish Charity Awards celebrate the best of Scotland’s voluntary sector. More can be read about Film Town’s nomination and the other 44 finalists here.
Film Town is Alchemy’s community filmmaking initiative.
Encompassing workshops, partnerships and an open access media lab in Hawick town centre, it works to the benefit of Hawick and its unique communities by widening accessibility and inclusion for audiences, participants and partners, and by challenging social, physical and communication barriers.
Film Town events aim to create positive and supportive working environments, while contributing to Hawick’s economic regeneration through an investment in its cultural identity.
