SYNOPSIS
The Movie Makers is a short film about members of the Pendle Movie Makers, an amateur filmmaking group based in Colne, Lancashire, and Anna Raczynski’s relationship with the group as the latest member to join in 2017 as an artist filmmaker. With reference to a number of examples of the group’s archival material, including one of the first films made by the group in the 1960s entitled Vanishing Britain, the video work addresses wider themes of ageing, change, technology, migration and community.
Anna Raczynski will be present for a discussion after the screening, with artist filmmaker Ed Webb-Ingall.
LOOKING, SEEING, SHOWING
The Movie Makers is screening as part of Looking, Seeing, Showing, a weekend event with artist filmmakers Anna Raczynski and Ed Webb-Ingall focusing on community video and including screenings, discussions, and a filmmaking workshop.
More information on the distinct elements of Looking, Seeing, Showing can be found here.
