PROJECT: ONCE UPON A TIME IN HAWICK
We are delighted to announce Once Upon a Time in Hawick, a major new project exploring – throughout 2020 – the identities, industries and stories of Hawick.
Join us at our first free screening and launch event, at 11am on 31 January in the Heart of Hawick cinema, for more details on the screenings, exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, digital skills programme, discussion events and other features we have already lined up.

FILM TOWN: BEARS, BENGALS AND BIG BAD BARRY
Following a capacity screening for participants and partners on 18 December 2019, we are proud and excited to unveil the first batch of films made as part of Film Town, Alchemy’s community filmmaking project.
The films, now free to view, were created by Hawick Cubs, Jedburgh Scout Group and Interest Link, the volunteer befriending service for socially isolated children, young people and adults with learning disabilities across the Scottish Borders.

EXHIBITION: LANGUAGE MAKES ME AN UNCERTAIN PERSON
Forage/Image, our project exploring the relationship between artists, landscapes and environment, will conclude next month with Language makes me an uncertain person by South Korean artist Darae Baek. Join us for the exhibition opening on Friday 14 February, 6pm at 53 High Street, Hawick, TD9 9BP.

FESTIVAL: SUBMISSIONS CLOSED
We thank all artists and filmmakers who submitted a record number of works to Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival 2020. Our internal review period is now under way and notifications will be delivered in early March if not before. This year’s edition, the tenth, takes place 30 April – 4 May.
