OOR AIN FILM ARCHIVE

Oor Ain Film Archive is a film preservation and screen heritage project celebrating Hawick and Scottish Borders communities on film.

Thanks to a £140k grant from the BFI Screen Heritage Fund, awarding National Lottery funding, the cross-programme project explores the social histories and industrial legacies of our town and region.

Taking place between autumn 2025 and summer 2026, Oor Ain Film Archive encompasses the digitisation and restoration of local archive treasures made by Hawick and Borders communities; a season of screenings and public events over the coming autumn/winter; a call for donations of old films from the region; a young people’s creative learning initiative; a training and skills enhancement programme for Alchemy staff; and the development of a permanent online resource dedicated to local archive films.

Tickets to ‘Oor Ain Film Archive’ screenings are available via Eventbrite now.
