Outwith is an exciting programme of filmmaking workshops and events for Borders-based young people delivered by Alchemy Film & Arts throughout 2021

- get the chance to work with professional artists and filmmakers
- screen your films to local and international audiences
- access to year-round mentoring and resources
- no previous film experience required
WHAT TO EXPECT
The programme runs March 2021 – February 2022 and will take place online until later in the programme. It is designed to fit around and complement your existing interests and activities and will take the form of:
Introduction to Filmmaking | April – June
3 x workshops exploring colour, tone, composition, decision-making and editing, resulting in a collaboratively made film
Summer Project | June – September
6 x workshops working with a professional guest artist, resulting in a collaboratively made film
Make Your Own | October – February
Supported opportunities, with access to resources and mentorship, to make films individual films
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
This is a free programme for Borders-based 16-25-year-olds interested in creativity, film and digital media.
In order to participate you will need*:
- Access to a device to have a video call on (phone, ipad, tablet, laptop)
- Access to a device that records video (phone, ipad, tablet, camera, video camera)
*If you don’t have access to a device for video call or recording, please let us know and we can supply you one for the duration of the programme.

There is also potential for existing established groups to participate together and sign up as a unit – in this case Alchemy would work within the groups established schedules and aims – please speak to your group facilitator for them to sign the group up.
