Sitdown is an Alchemy Film & Arts series of artist interviews, published to complement its exhibitions, residencies, and other events. You can find all other Sitdown entries here.
Following its UK premiere at the 2019 edition of Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, Yashaswini Raghunandan‘s That Cloud Never Left (2019) opened Continue Watching, Alchemy Film & Arts’ online season of film screenings, discussion events and critical writing.
On 29 October 2020, Yashaswini was joined by writer and researcher Jemma Desai and Alchemy Co-Director Michael Pattison to discuss the communities depicted in the film, neo-colonial spectatorships, the ethics of film programming, production mechanisms as modes of survival, and more.
More information about the film, including a commissioned essay by Jemma Desai, can be found here.
