Alchemy Film & Arts is based in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick. We work with artists and communities across local, national and international contexts, using film as a way to come together, have conversations and strengthen community.

Our flagship event is the UK’s festival of experimental film and artists’ moving image, known for the solidarity and warmth with which it is delivered in Hawick each spring. 

The fifteenth edition of the UK’s festival of experimental film and artists’ moving image takes place 1 – 4 May 2025 and our call for entries is now open.

Film Town is our award-winning year-round programme of community filmmaking, skills development and creative learning, which places inclusion, equity and social justice at its centre through collaboration, partnerships and critical practice.
