Alchemy Film & Arts is based in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick. We work with artists and communities across local, national and international contexts, using film as a way to come together, have conversations and strengthen community.

Our flagship event is the UK’s festival of experimental film, presenting an international programme of cinema screenings, moving-image exhibitions and live performances in the warm, intimate and inclusive setting of Hawick each spring.

Our fourteenth edition takes place 2 -5 May 2024.


Film Town is our year-round community engagement and creative learning programme that places inclusion, equity and social justice at its centre through collaboration, partnerships and critical practice.
