2014 FILM SUBMISSIONS

2014 FILM SUBMISSIONS

The next edition of the festival will be 4th – 6th April 2014.

We are now closed for 2014 entries, The entry deadline was 30th November 2013. Submissions for 2015 will open in September 2014.

Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival is an international festival of experimental film and artists’ moving image. Our 2014 theme is ‘DreamLand’, focussing on film explorations of the natural world as a place of dreams, the dream of nature, and the natural world correspondent with the subconscious world. Our theme also relates to the utopian dreams of a Scottish homeland – in Scotland’s Year of Homecoming, and the Scottish Referendum.

We accept submissions of short films, feature films, installations and expanded cinema events (both digital and 16/35mm). We usually prefer work of a more experimental nature, though narrative films that show uniqueness in form and structure, or strong relevance to our themes, are most welcome. Please bear in mind the overall festival theme which aims to explore mankind’s relationship to the natural world. We’re also interested in the ‘alchemy’ of film as well, whatever that turns out to be. Please only submit your work if it relates to these themes in some meaningful way. We do not charge an entry fee, and we do watch everything that is submitted, so please only submit to our festival if you think your work genuinely fits.

After completing the submission form you will see a confirmation message and you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not get these messages, then your entry has not been received and you should submit again or contact us.

We accept preview screeners/submissions on DVD OR online (password protected Vimeo links are best). We only accept full versions – no trailers or partially complete works please. Online links must be fully available and accurate at the date of submission.

As we are a free entry festival, we are sadly NOT able to pay screening fees. If selected, we will try to help filmmakers with accommodation or travel where possible, should they wish to attend the festival to participate in audience Q&A’s. We usually cover the postal costs of shipping screening copies of film prints and digital files.

In order to fill out the submission form, you will need the following information to hand:
- Exact running time of the work.
- Some basic technical details about aspect ratio and available screening formats.
- Short description/synopsis (30 – 100 words).
- Short biography of Director (30 – 100 words).
- Production credits.
- A digital still image of the work.
- Online preview link (web address and password) or DVD preview copy of your film.
