Scene Setters
Scene Setters is a play group for kids and their grown-ups to create and connect.
Unfolding across six weeks at Alchemy’s partner venue The Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels, Scene Setters invites you to step inside an inclusive hands-on environment where new worlds can be made from a range of materials, allowing parents and carers to connect with their wee ones and with each other.
Sessions take place 10.30am – 12pm every Thursday between 22 October and 26 November. Sessions are £5 each per grown-up and their accompanying child(ren), or £25 for all six sessions when block-booked. See our FAQs below for further information.
Places limited, booking essential.

No. This is a relaxed environment designed to foster connection and creativity without screens or digital technology.

Is Scene Setters part of a wider project?
Yes. Scene Setters is delivered as part of In a Land of Milk Snatchers, an Alchemy Film & Arts project collaborating with Scottish Borders communities, regional and national partners and artist parents to explore power, care, labour and public space in the context of long-term systemic cuts to rural provision and infrastructure.
In a Land of Milk Snatchers is made possible with support from Culture Collective and William Grant Foundation. Culture Collective is a network of participatory arts projects across Scotland, shaped by local communities alongside artists and creative organisations and funded by Creative Scotland.
