The Teviot, the Flag and the Rich, Rich Soil

The Teviot, the Flag and the Rich, Rich Soil is a programme of artist residencies supporting the generation of new knowledge through long-term, practice-led research and multidisciplinary partnerships exploring the borders, boundaries and lines of Hawick and the Scottish Borders.

Launched in July 2021, the programme engages artists in collaborating with communities and partners to consider the pasts, presents and futures of Hawick while researching and investigating the town and wider region’s cultural identities in relation to land, water, industry, territory, place and environment.

Emphasising collaboration, collectivity and sustainable growth, The Teviot, the Flag and the Rich, Rich Soil also includes artist bursaries, community filmmaking workshops, and a traineeships programme.
