Rum An Milk
Rum an Milk is a feature-length portrait of Hawick Common Riding and the town-wide labours that underpin and sustain the centuries-old annual tradition.
Produced by Alchemy FIlm & Arts and directed by Mark Lyken in collaboration with community partners, the film was made as part of Hawick in Common (2023-25), our two-year cross-programme project exploring the histories, cultures and heritages of Hawick.
Hawick in Common is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with additional support from Scottish Borders LAG Community Led Local Development Fund.
Rum an Milk will be part of a permanent online mediatheque launched by Alchemy in spring 2026. Please get in touch meanwhile if you would like to see or screen the film.
