A short experimental film exploring the rhythms and textures of Wooplaw Community Woodland in Galashiels, where Borders Additional Needs Group’s Branching Out Youth Group conducted socially distanced meetups during the lockdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-created by BANG’s service users, Wooplash pays rhythmic homage to its place of inspiration, presenting it as a site of scratchy, squelchy fun: ‘It’s good to laugh!’
The film was the first collaboration of Alchemy’s long-running partnership with BANG, made as part of Film Town, Alchemy’s programme of community filmmaking, skills development and creative learning. Filmed in Wilton Park and facilitated by Lydia Beilby and Sana Bilgrami as part of Folk Film Gathering.
