Synopsis:
a short moving image piece exploring notions of the surface and alchemy of the celluloid surface. The work also investigates the relationships between image and sound. By focusing equally on the sound design the work hopes to create a more immersive cinematic experience. The original material was shot from a short journey through the landscape although it is now very abstracted.
Biography/Filmography:Sam Spreckley is a British visual artist whom specializes in the moving image and sound design. Spreckley has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally most recently being selected to represent the UK at the European Young Artists Biennial held in Thessaloniki in Greece.

Synopsis:
Project is an independent production.The film refers to a subconscious fear of life, transience and death. The specific form and sound intensify feelings of anxiety and uncertainty.
Biography/Filmography:Studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Copernicus University in Toruń (1993-1998). Deals with printmaking, computer graphics, animation and photography. Synopsis:
Lake Aliki, Cyprus. For centuries, flamingos have wintered here from Iran. Rimbaud encountered them when he worked a quarry in Larnaca. 7th century Arabs described them to mark the burial site of Umm Haram, aunt of the Prophet Muhammad. It is said that Lazarus spent his days on the shores of this lake after his resurrection, staring into the sun to shake off the darkness of the grave. The Greeks represented flamingos in poetry, the Romans slaughtered them for their tongues. Today, a man sings:
Pharmacist, oh pharmacist, oh pharmacist,
I want medicine for myself, I want medicine for myself,
My heart, my heart, my heart is beating like this,
My heart is afflicted because of you.
BIO
Richard Wiebe is a graduate student at the University of Iowa where he teaches nonfiction filmmaking, screenwriting, film theory, and film sound. He is the co-founder and co-director of Works-in-Progress (WiP), a non-competitive festival that programs unfinished work by artists working in virtually every medium.

Synopsis:
In the days beyond The Fluxing, the times of The Soft Borders, The Great Anomolies, Hypocritical Phenomena, when worlds collapsed and the fabric between realities became fluid, an artist and the man she lost search for each other in reflections, shadows and dreams.
Biography/Filmography:THE BIRD AND THE MONKEY – artist/musician SARAHJANE SWAN (a BA Hons graduate in sculpture from Gray's School of Art) and writer/musician ROGER SIMIAN – have collaborated on left-field songs and music videos since early 2010. Tracks have aired on Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC2 teen soap, “The Cut”. The video, “Do You Wanna?”, was chosen by the BBC Music Video Festival 2011 to screen for two weeks on Edinburgh Big Screen. Earlier this year the pair completed their first short film, “IN THE DARK I SAT”, a surreal and atmospheric 15 minute science-fictional romance.

‘A seductive and furious film essay’, Raymond van den Boogaard, NRC handelsblad
Jeanette Groenendaal returns to a village in the Dutch Bible Belt to film a personal study of the scapegoat mechanism. A project staging tableaux performances melting frozen memories in an emotionnally charged landscape. In a series of 'visions' she reconstructs, excerpts from her childhood.This stylized flashback is more than a personal therapy session or a documentary about a fundamentalist community. It returns to the past, not out of revenge or a need to judge, but to investigate the roots of a past that is returning to the present, with the contemporary outpouring of religion, conservatism, xenophobia, and judgmental moral standards.
‘How does one group of people who think that they know the truth, what is right and wrong, how do they decide if somebody else is going to hell?’

JOKING APART: a film by Ronald Forbes
Three philosophers, Plato, Hume and Descartes, get together to share a joke.
Seriously funny, or funnily serious – or both of these. Or perhaps neither. You decide, if that is possible.
An ostensibly light-hearted film that raises serious issues about the idea of understanding, the nature of humour in our culture, and our confrontation with the absurd.
The film alludes to our relationship with the natural world through three jokes each referencing a bird, animal or a fish.

Ronald Forbes is a painter and film-maker. He is an academician of the Royal Scottish Academy.
He has had more than thirty five solo exhibitions internationally and his films are often shown as part of these and other exhibitions. Venues over the years have included Project Art Centre, Dublin, Fruitmarket Gallery , Edinburgh and Mazzo, Amsterdam.
His film Between Dreams won the BBC Scotland ‘Scope’ film competition in 1975.

Synopsis:
Repeat screening of 'Wilder Moves' - a mixed shorts programme.
In the telling of stories, these landscapes permeate their narratives, becoming metaphorical, contextual, signifying or emotive. We witness the interplay of nature and guilt played out between two adolescents in a fi eld, while a wild bull-run becomes the landscape for a tale of love and intolerance. One man struggles to maintain love within the encroaching wilderness of 1840’s Canada, while yet others walk in isolation through landscapes layered with fears, memories and dreams.

For thousands of years, alchemists toiled to synthesize rare substances and universal cures, to manipulate the speed of natural processes. Today, a woman has her husband’s ashes transformed into a memorial diamond. Precious metals are extracted from obsolete electronics. What was once the world’s largest landfill-- now the final resting place of the World Trade Center’s remains-- is being converted into a public park. The film intimately examines various transmutations, both microscopic and massive, that reshape matter and its meanings. What separates the permanent from the impermanent, the things we discard from those we preserve?
Biography/Filmography:Sarah J. Christman makes non-fiction films that examine the intersection between people, technology and the natural world. Her award winning work has screened internationally, including the Rotterdam Film Festival, Margaret Mead Film Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, and the San Francisco International Film Festival where "Dear Bill Gates" earned the New Visions Award. She is an Assistant Professor in the Film Department at Brooklyn College.
