2018 – 2019 Exhibition Programme Submissions

Submissions for Alchemy Film & Arts’ 2018 – 19 Exhibitions Programme are now open!

Following the success of the 2018 Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival, and our 2017 Exhibitions Programme we invite proposals of moving image installations to be exhibited between November 2018 and March 2019 in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick.

Proposals of artists’ moving image installations are welcome from any part of the world – we celebrate a diverse range of works, from emerging and established artists at any stage in their career. The deadline for submissions is Midnight, Friday 3 August 2018, and applicants will be notified if submissions are successful by Friday 7 September 2018.

We can offer:
£500 artist fee
Accommodation in Hawick during install and exhibition opening
A skilled, on-site technician
AV equipment where required
Gallery space and invigilation
Curatorial support
Marketing support

We welcome submissions from all countries.
Works produced within the last 3 years will stand a greater chance of success.
Please tell us as much information as possible about the nature of the work and how you intend to use the space. More detail here will help with the selection process.
Please tell us the specific technical requirements of the work, for example - how many screens, projectors, monitors or any specific audio requirements, or set up of the space, or specific playback device.
If selected, this text will be used in our printed programme and website. Please give no more than 30 words.
Please provide a short biography of the Director / Artist. At least 30 words but no more than 100 words. If selected, this may be published on our website.
Please list any previous or forthcoming public screenings of this work including festivals and gallery installations.
If Alchemy host this work, would it be a premiere in either Scotland, United Kingdom, Europe or the World? We do prefer work that has not previously been seen in Scotland, though premiere status is certainly not a requirement.

Please upload a still image from the submitted work, suitable for use on our website or printed publicity material should your film be accepted. Please make sure the image is 72dpi only - large images of 300dpi may cause your entry to be rejected.
We prefer password protected Vimeo links for preview purposes. We do not accept Dropbox or WeTransfer files sent to us for preview purposes.
Please provide a link to an online preview (ie. Vimeo or equivalent), plus any password needed for access. We prefer you do NOT use services like Dropbox, WeTransfer or YouSendIt for preview copies. A video streaming service like Vimeo makes it much easier for us to preview your film. Please make sure the link and password remain valid for at least 10 months from the date of submission.
